It really is a eye opener when seeing how difficult it could be when trying to start up a business from scratch. It takes a lot of effort and dedication in order to successfully have your business grow to a very successful yet stable business. As long as you have the right tools, knowledge, and the right people around you than it could work out very well in the long run. [Name removed] is definitely someone i would go to for advice later on in my career when i open my own business because he knows whats important and how to structure a business on his own while making a good and steady in come.

One of the most meaningful things I got out of this project is getting an insight on how an entrepreneur started and being able talk to them as well as get advice on what I can do to help my business in places they wish they had someone to do the same for them. Things they wish they knew, things they advise to look at and if I am willing to put my all into it. Understanding its okay to be scared of taking risk because as I was told we need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and honestly that is something that stuck with me because nothing is ever certain. In fact I could not put it in better words. The other thing that i found most meaningful was the fact how much he loved doing something he loved. He was able to live a life on his own terms and speaking to him just made me want to go after what i want to do in life... even as a friend i look up to him he is someone that i can ask and be comfortable asking questions about business and he loves to answer what i have to ask because it something he has experience with.

Interviewing this entrepreneur gave a lot of insight into the way he runs his company. I am currently employed by him and over the past two years I have learned a lot about how he runs his business, but the handful of questions he answered have shown me how important his methods of running his business truly are to him and his success as an entrepreneur. I respect him for breaking free of working under someone and deciding to work for himself. This has proven to be an exceptional choice after years of running his business. It is a big risk to take, but he is a living example that if you put all of your effort into your work and manage your finances properly you can be a successful entrepreneur. He also told me he still loves to do this kind of work after 22 years. I respect him for continuing to do work that he is proud of and that makes him happy.

The most meaningful thing that I found from this project was that I got to get an inside perspective on a business that I had no idea on how it ran and how it worked. I have learned that you must treat everyone as one and as a equal. Some would choose sales. Some would say marketing. Many would claim its leadership however others believe it is a system. But {name removed] said the most important element is financial acumen. I don't disagree that these are all important but to me it's all about your team and making everyone feel included. I know so many business owner who have taken over a year to make a decision, as a result to their strategic cowardness and complacency they often get left behind in the industry. Urgency is also very important in the act to achieve greatness we must cultivate great urgency and the way we think. One of the things I loved about interviewing [name removed] were they things that he was able to reveal. [Name removed] reviewed the exclusivity about the information dealing with his company. Something he said that stuck to me was that I did not mention is that anyone can make lemonade but how you make it is important. I also figured out some key thing to success from just talking to [name removed] which was mindset, strategy, structure, system, accountability, and most importantly kindness. I was inspired by all the innovation and the mission to provide a great sale experience for any customer that crosses my path or [name removed] path. I definitely know how i would be running my business based upon the advice and information that I have obtained from this project and [name removed]. Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.

The most meaningful part to me about this project was being able to talk to an experienced small business owner. That might sound cliche but it is ultimately true, just the fountain of knowledge you can tap into is immense even more so because the person you are talking to is one of the people that was successful. My interview was amazing often going on and elaborating on several different points and stressing many of the key points i mentioned in my interview. These strategies you know are successful because it helped him get to where he is today. However, if I had to talk about a single take away and why it would be the need and requirement to network. This was not only stressed by him in terms of the overall interview but during the actual interview itself i realized how many resources were out there waiting just in the people around us. Through networking not only do I get access to potential customers but relevant data and experiences that can relate to business. This is the type of stuff people either can't buy or or spend thousands of dollars to be given to them at some type of workshop. I know that networking is going to be my biggest weakness and this interview showed how crucial it is for me to figure out some way to work on this aspect of my future business venture.

I think the most meaningful thing about this project was just being able to speak to someone that in my mind is successful regardless of what it is that he does. My favorite question has to be the last one number 8 because it gave me some key tips for just life in general. I am not saying that my goal is to become a plumber but if that was my goal, I now know some knowledge behind the business as well as what to look for to my this business thrive. I think that this project is more about getting information and being able to pick the brain of someone that has been through trial and error and is still here or relevant in the business world. This project is really useful and at first I was a little bit nervous because I did not know who to ask or what I even want to do with my life. But it was nice at the end because I was able to talk to my sisters’ husband’s father and it made the whole interview process less nerve raking and allowed me to just take my time rather than be nervous about asking the next question. I think I may keep these questions just for future interviews if I ever get to meet with a person in a field that I am more interested of joining or starting a business in. My overall experience is that I am pleased with this project and how it worked out for me.

The most meaningful part of this project was getting to actually speak to an entrepreneur who has been through exactly what I want to accomplish. Hearing the information in class is one thing, but actually hearing it from someone who, in my opinion, has “made it,” allowed it to feel more possible. The hardships and successes the entrepreneur I interviewed had to endure were incredible. This project showed me how stressful and rewarding being an entrepreneur can be. The advice that I was given on credit helped me understand how financing and actually building credit works. Without this project, I may have just went ahead and been fine with only obtaining my associate’s degree in real estate, but now I feel like transferring to a university will be more helpful in my overall quest for owning my own business one day. This project has me excited for my future, and has allowed me to believe in myself and push myself when I fail.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed completing this project, it really gave me an insight of all the different things an entrepreneur had to do to get their business started. Not only on how they got their business started but in fact on how to continue to make their business successful after many years. In addition, I was able to learn the behind the scenes on how her business is run, as well as getting tips from the business owner on what to expect for an aspiring entrepreneur. It made me think about all the hard work one must go through in order to achieve their dream of running their own business, but despite of all the struggles that it is possible to own and run your own business. I had been going to get a hair cut from this local shop for about two years now, and throughout the two years of being a customer it never crossed my mind of what it took for the business owner to get to where they are today. With this project I was able to learn a lot from the business owner and was able to enhance my relationship with the owner along with the employees that work there. Have gained a lot of respect towards them on how they started their business and yet face challenges to maintain their business on top. I feel very fortunate to being able to have taken the time to interview this business owner and learn so much from her and her business!

This project was a wonderful opportunity to get one on one time with someone who is where I want to be in five years. I believe that she will be a mentor to me once I get my real estate license and beyond. She has a lot of wisdom to share as she has been a broker since 1991 and survived the real estate market crash without compromising herself. I am going to use the advice that she gave me by learning as much as possible now. I have also made adjustments to my educational plan to take a couple of extra classes that she suggested so that I am better prepared when I start my real estate career. I also know that I am going to approach real estate the same way. She told me that she is not in the business of sales, she instead is in the business of helping others reach their goals. After speaking with her, I know that I can use my skills and experience in customer service and property management to be a successful real estate broker. I hope starting my own business will also give me a way to give back to the community by donating my time and money as well as mentoring others as she has done for me.

I learned how hard it is to start up a business. It has taught me that things will not always be easy and I shouldn’t expect them to be. I was able to ask questions about the process. See what it was like to start from a word of mouth. Learn tricks to start up a good business plan and important decisions that need to be made. I was able to see if starting a business was a right choice for me. The decision to start new or to take over a business that has already been started. If starting from a new business learning that it will not be easy. Failure is a huge factor and there are no real guarantees. Coming to terms with failure will help you succeed. If it is something you really want set aside time for it. Make it a priority to better yourself. If you want to be taken seriously you need to put yourself out there. I have gained more knowledge of what to expect and how I will start mine. I have learned which path I want to start out my journey on. Now it is time to get on that open road.
